after installing candybar and resetting my computer so that he new icons would take effect, all the times in the menu bar at the top my screen have dissapeared such as the time, volume control. spotlight, airport, user name. I have removed candybar and reset and they are still gone. Has this ever happened before that you are aware of? I am using OSX 10.4.5. Also, when I try to open system preferences and try to go to sounds, the system preferences window crashes and I get the crash message "the application system preferences quit unexpectedly. I have reset my computer a few times to see if that would fix it and it didn't. I have spotlighted my system to find anything to do with candybar and deleted all of it but it still didn't bring back the items. can anyone think of anything??

You may have accidentally deleted or modified an essential file when you installed candybar.
You could try e-maling the people who make candybar and see if they have any suggestions.

lacreo says: Don't mess with system essentials! Oooo Yeah!

It's quite possible that it's not candybar at all. Check the Activity Monitor (/Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor.app) and see if anything is red, especially SystemUIServer. Also, try moving ~/Library/Preferences to a different location (don't delete, or you'll lose all your preferences, even if that's not what's causing the problem), reboot, and see if that clears anything up.

Also, repair Permissions if you haven't. Probably won't help, but certainly won't hurt.
