Divx movies look too dark?

I have an iMac C2D. I have some DIVX movies, and for some reason, it seems really dark when playing the movies. Especially in when a scene comes up in the movie where it's a night shot, I can barely make out the characters.

I have the brightness about all the way up on the screen.

Anyone else have this issue? It seems fine on my other PC...
 
Use VLC and then adjust the brightness in the program itself. that way it only affects the video and not the whole mac. You can go very bright with VLC.
