I have been pleasantly surprised once I downloaded the Divx Player for Leopard (http://labs.divx.com/files/DivXPlayer4Leopard.dmg) and an equivalent Safari plugin for video viewing (http://download.divx.com/divx/oldversions/DivXWebPlayerMacv14.dmg).

After that I went to stagevu.com and I experienced smooth video playback all across the board on my PowerBook 1 GHz. Granted, it's not youtube which relies heavily on Flash but the video playback is amazingly smooth, even on Reduced CPU setting.

Unbelievable how much power there still is in these machines.

Its all about how the apps are coded. Sloppy code calls for bad performance. These systems are still powerful.
