So me and my mate are starting a little, casual DJ Duo which we have name ourselves 'Standard procedure', it's just a bit of fun to be honest but we are learning and have a possible night with another DJ at a small bar in town.

Heres the Link to the latest Logo/poster with supporting graphic

I would like to see how I could make this image into something that could appear in like a lens flare or a flare that draws the path out. or along those lines. I've never used flash before. i have the full CS4 (can use PS, Ai, ID) and iWork (Keynote?)
Maybe a pulse that shoots along the pulse path and loops

Also I would like some constructive crit on the graphic / logo idea and the page. I'm hoping to develop the page a bit more, maybe a simple blog or playlists with a comment box etc...

The main graphic idea is basically a record/disc on the left, then a pulse (the digital signal) to a standard jack plug connector. Its sort of a procedure that is common in music and DJ'ing... I like the outcome.

I need to make a simpler version of the graphic which is a suitable logo.

Just a bit of fun really 🙂
Cheers!
Luke.

I like the concept of the logo. My problem with it is that if I didnt read it was for a DJ I would have never known. I think the Disc and Plug need to be more predominant. The center line connecting the two items draws way too much attention away from the main objects. I hope that makes sense lol.

What can I do to improve the performance of my G5 using Creative Suite??

sorry, please delete double post.

I really like the logo. Clean and simple you really can't go wrong with it.

In regards to the animation I would steer well clear of lens flares and other effects. Personally something simple like the cord animating to a simple looped beat would look awesome, and I believe it can be done very easy with Motion and AE.

Hi, Luke.

I like the overall concept, but something in the CD distracts me. The angular line makes me think of a wheel or machine rather than a CD. I just finished a bike logo, so that may color/colour my thinking. The transition from a hollow line to a solid line is inconsistent to me. All solid but a lighter line weight, perhaps?

If you want to mess with Flash, follow the advice of others and stay away from lens flares. Keep it simple. A comet with a tail would look cool, but that would be hard to do if I recall work I did with Flash 5. Getting the tail to follow around the sharp turns in the motion path would be difficult. Just a fast moving dot would be a good starting point.

Have fun.

If you still want to do a lens flare, this should give you a basic idea to adapt

http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/text_blur_titles/

The site is full of after effects tuts so check if want any other effects too. Also, I havent personally watched that lens flare one but looks big part. Many of the others have lens flares if need to watch a different one.

Thanks for that tutorial link, its an awesome website!

I've learned a few basics and through trial and error I have made a pulse run along the line. I set the background as the current web image then layered a CC particle over and set points along for it to run along.

What do you think?

I'm trying to learn some more after effects, flash and dreamweaver.
I intend to have a main page which is the main graphic logo with the pulse animation and then when a genre is click along the bottom is glows and then the main graphic changes to a cool visualization with an audio track playing.

I've made a couple of screenshots to show below.

Heres the tutorial I'm following although the swf animation took a long time to render and ended up at around 130Mb and I would need like 5 of them, so I might have to rethink this way. It is pretty cool though

Luke.
