I've always wanted one. But I don't do enough exciting things to make it useful. It'd just be hovering behind me at the office recording me working.
I have the same problem with a GoPro :(.
Your GoPro hovers behind you at the office? That's pretty impressive.

Just ordered the mavic 2 pro to replace my mavic pro platinum. Can't wait! Specially looking forward to the Hasselblad camera! :)

I bought my first drone a few weeks ago. It is just a little $25 drone with no camera on Amazon, but even such a cheap device was incredibly fun to fly and came with more features than one would expect. I fear that I made a huge mistake purchasing this drone because now I really want to upgrade to a bigger, fancier one. Maybe in a year or two! I'm hooked.

if it can‘t move (or work) autonomously, it‘s not called a drone. $25 seems cheap, are you sure you didn‘t just buy a rc quadcopter? otoh, a thing doesn‘t have to fly, to become a drone (e.g. drone ships).

The Mavic 2 is way too expensive imho. I've read through all the nice features, turns out its obstacle detection is still not 360°. Obviously it's only available in Tripod/ActiveTrack mode with DJI stating (translated:) "There's that nice feature, it should work, but maybe it doesn't... safety is your responsibility. Good luck".
Apart from that the only news is the camera. If you need the bump in quality, the Mavic 2 might be interesting... (EDIT: Probably wait for a Phantom refresh, that's the same price range)
Most importantly though, the Mavic doesn't do Atti Mode without a hardware modification and software downgrade, which is a retarded restriction by DJI. That's a deal-braker for that money.

I probably should have written that out better. I mean I have the same problem with justifying a gopro purchase. I don't do enough exciting things. In that case it'd be mounted to my head and I'd be taking recordings of me browsing macrumors and reddit :p

No, see, you hook up the gopro to continuously stream to twitch, and get people to pay you for browsing macrumors and reddit.

The rest is just opportunistic wordplay, à la Real Genius:
Chris: Kent puts his name on his license plate.
Mitch: My mom does the same thing to my underwear.
Chris: Your mom puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?

If you actually took your GoPro out of its original packaging, you're at least one step ahead of someone I know. So give yourself credit for that.

How do find the new mavic's compared to the Mavic Air?
Sorry for the late reply. Compared to the Mavic Air it's a night and day difference. The Occusync 2.0 is so much better than the wifi thingy in the Air. Of course the Camera can't really be compared. Different class alltogether...

wish DJI would accept my air as part of the trade in program...
