BigJohno macrumors 68000 Original poster Apr 13, 2007 #1 Why is it that the 17 inch mbp has the 8x drive when the 15 inch is the same thickness?
Bill Gates macrumors 68030 Apr 13, 2007 #2 Because the drive inside isn't the same thickness, and the only drive available, at least when the C2D MacBook Pro came out, is a 6x drive. The thickness constraint is due to the touchpad being above the SuperDrive in the 15" model.
