I have an encrypted DMG made around 2012, and last opened in 2012. Yup, I forgot the password.
I've been trying John The Ripper, but I cannot figure out how to use it. Can anyone post a how-to (end-to-end) for me? I've watched youtube videos and read websites, but their explanations just aren't working.
I run OS X 10.11.2 currently and know very little about Terminal/Unix, but I am happy to learn as much as is needed to figure the out.

Is there a way to make it run faster? It stays below 3% CPU usage, even though I have over 50% CPU Idle.
