.dmg file will not mount?

When I attempt to mount a .dmg file, I get a message "The following Disk Images failed to Mount" and below it "Function not Implemented".
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might cause this and how I might fix said problem?

You downloaded it, right? I think it is a corrupted disk image and so you will need to to redownload it. But I'm not sure...
