So I use brave browser. I make sure to quit the app and I eject the .dmg because i dont want this file on my desktop. When i start the app the .dmg appears and I have to go through the annoying process of verifying it.
How do I get rid of the .dmg permanently?
How do I stop having to go through the verifying process each time?

Thanks
BTW new mac user here

Typically many apps that come in DMGs are designed for the user to drag the app into the Applications folder from the DMG. Once the app is in the Applications folder there would be no need for the DMG.

If you made an alias to the app on the DMG, or if you added the app to your dock from the DMG, it will mount the DMG to run the app. Move the app to the applications folder and remove the alias or dock entry and remake it.

The .dmg ("disk image") file, when mounted, is equivalent to inserting a CD or flash drive. When you launch the app (which I'm guessing you dragged from the .dmg into your dock) it needs to "reinsert" the drive.

As mentioned above, you should drag the app from the .dmg into your Applications folder, and then add that copy to the dock.

As far as I'm aware, Apple recommends that developers not use .dmg, probably to avoid exactly this sort of confusion.

In some cases app DMGs have the app on one side and Applications folder shortcut on the other inside the disk. And it usually has a fancy graphic assisting with installing. In that case, I sometimes prefer DMGs.

Quit Brave.

Is the .dmg file still on the desktop?

Then...
DON'T "eject" it.
Move the icon to the trash and then empty the trash.
Is it now gone?
