Hello,

I created a disk image file in Disk Utility named Archive.dmg.

Within it, I placed a Photos Library (the Apple application) with referenced files. Basically I use that Library for inventory of certain projects etc. But my main Photos Library is in the normal location with my regular photos. My DMG is stored on internal drive.

Now every time I launch Photos with my main Library (not the one on the DMG) for some reason my DMG mounts in Finder. Even when I hold Option and click on the Photos application (to be able to select which Library to launch) it only shows me my main Library after a restart. So I don't know why this behavior is happening and what I can do to stop it?

Any tips or ideas appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick

Where does the Photos app launch from? (Where is the Photos app located?)
Quick way to be sure - Launch Photos. Make sure the dock icon shows the "app is open" white dot.
Right click the Photos icon in your Dock, Choose Options, then "Show in Finder"
Is your Photos app where you expect it? (in the Applications folder), or is the app actually in your backup .dmg ? (mounting the disk image, because that's where your Photos app is... )

It actually launches from the regular Applications folder, regardless of which Library is loaded, just double checked, good idea to check that. So odd, since it shouldn't matter where another Library resides, but I guess having multiple libraries, it's rare to have them in a .dmg locally... and Photos just automatically preps all libraries associated to it in the background?
