Hi,

I have a friend whom has a non-smartphone. I am unsure if it is android, but I am assuming it is running a version of Android. It is not a flip phone.

If I send the person a text with an emoji through SMS, will it be an emoji? Or will it be weird unicode character?

Thank you

It depends on if the version of Android they have or app they're using supports the particular emoji. But otherwise yes, it should. It will have a different design though.

I would also check to see if you get charged by your carrier for Picture Messaging. The last thing you need is to find you have amounted a huge bill; all down to a load of emojis!

If it's not a smartphone, then it's not likely running Android.

Regular phones use much simpler and smaller operating systems, so that much less expensive hardware can be used.
