Yes, my iPhone X. However it will go to my mom, replacing her iPhone 6+, once I get my SE is delivered.
Here’s the funny thing, my mom she loves pressing the screen really hard because the 6+ sometimes lag. So with her replacement the X, by habit she will likely 3D press it often and won’t know what’s going on. I won’t tell her until she asks. ;) She’s older by the way.
Let’s hope she doesn't get herself into any trouble.

My X is on 12.4.1 and tried before posting. I was pretty sure it never did it because that was a feature I missed when I upgraded from my 6S..
Thanks for that. Do you know if pressing the edge of the screen is the only 3D Touch difference between the 6s-8 and X-Xs now?

Yeah, when they nixed the home button they replaced the side press with the swipe up from the bottom.

Not sure about iOS 13 because my 6S is on 12.4 and my X is on 12.4.1. I'm not going to update them further. When I get the 6.1 12 Pro I'll have no choice but to use haptic touch instead so I'll have to live with what is offered..

I imagine that when she first accidentally 3D press something, you how it’s pressure sensitive & and there’s feedback, she’ll think that they are really real bottoms on the screen. That’ll be a trip for her. Hehehe... ;)

- some gestures are still there. I can still hold and press on the edge of the screen to get to the task switcher

Well I never knew about that feature (pressing on the left hand side edge of the screen). Just tried it on my iPhone 8. Thanks! :)

My Xs is on the latest version, and 3D touch is working.

Its not. I assure you. What you're getting is Haptic Touch. 3D Touch is long dead. Trust me, I have a XS Max and it annoys me to no end how crippled it became with Haptic Touch. The delay is terrible.

Ok I’m still confused but let me try to consolidate everything.

This is what is clear to me:
- the different generations of 3D Touch iPhones range from 6S - XS, minus SE and XR
- X and XS work differently from the other 3D Touch iphones in that they never had 3D Touch edge of screen to switch apps
- *with iOS 13, 3D Touch “pop” functionality was taken away. (*but for all 3D Touch phones?)

What I’m not clear on:
- with iOS 13, 3D Touch response time was slowed down to make it more like Haptic Touch but it’s still slightly faster than Haptic Touch? Is this accurate?
- besides the aforementioned edge of screen press, are there ANY differences in the way 3D Touch functions between the different generations of 3D Touch iPhones? Were they all slowed down in iOS 13? Did they all lose “pop”?

The whole peek thing is different in 13.

Screenshot is how it is now.

3D Touch to preview. Let go then tap whatever option or tap the page to go immediately into it. Or swipe down to dismiss.

There is no longer a ‘pop’ which was a harder press to go into whatever you were previewing. That is completely gone.

It was more seamless before iOS 13, now it’s an extra step.

Yes to response time being slower than original 3D Touch but faster than haptic touch (not by much) and yes all 3D Touch phones lost pop in iOS 13

That is disappointing. I was thinking of getting the 8 to have the last 3D Touch phone with Touch ID. If 3D Touch response is delayed almost as long as Haptic, then it’s really not worth it.

Tbh if it's true that 3d touch is gone with 13, I'm not feeling it on my Xs, and on my 6s it's even better now.

Really?? So you don’t notice any kind of slow down in 3d Touch response? It’s still instantaneous? Not maybe a half second slower? What do you mean by even better on your 6s?

Has nothing to do with "feeling" it. Nothing changed as far as the vibration you feel. Full 3D touch used to have "peek" at slight pressure and "pop" as you continued to press harder. In iOS 13 "pop" that has been removed

People who used it constantly notice the differences in speed and functionality. When losing functionality was announced it was enough to make me stay on 12.4.1 permanently. Up to that point I updated my iOS every time a new version was offered religiously. After using iOS 13 for two days I downgraded immediately. There were a lot of features I wanted in iOS13 but not to trade full 3D touch for Haptic touch

Yeah that should be the clearest functional difference.
But just want to say, to me the bigger removal was the instantaneousness of 3d Touch, as you said. That was the real advantage that 3d Touch had over Haptic.

The speed difference isn't night and day different but it's there. As I said, if you used it constantly every day then the differences are noticeable. I know people who didn't use it very often at all and they noticed no difference. Most of them never realized there even was a "pop" if you pressed harder. The only way you'll know how you feel about it is if you can use a phone with a pressure sensitive screen on iOS 13 then compare it to one on iOS 12. A lot of people didn't mind the change

I think I would notice. I really really loathe long pressing. I haven’t had a 3d Touch phone in years, but I often think about how nice it would be to have that feature back.

Looking at this 3d touch / haptic touch comparison gif, 3d touch still seems to be pretty close to instant—but more importantly, definitely significantly faster than haptic touch. My interest is reinstated.
