So with every iPhone launch AT&T has allowed early iPhone adopters to upgrade with every launch, instead of 18months. Do any other carriers around the world do that? And if not, will AT&T keep doing it if the iPhone comes out on verizon as well?

Well, I do know that Verizon offered it with the Droid X, and I believe there was another phone or two it happened with as well. Plus, allowing an early upgrade is the best way to keep you under contract as long as possible.

Think about it, if you decide to wait because you don't get an upgrade, then you get to hear all the good and bad about what others think of the iPhone. Depending on what you hear, you could decide not to stay with them when your contract expires. On the other hand, if they offer early upgrades, everyone gets under contract for at least two years....its just business sense.
