Taking my 6S for a battery replacement... do they usually wipe the phone as part of the process? Or maybe removing the battery does that anyway?

Any idea how many days it usually takes? Got a 5S I’ll be using while it’s out, just curious :)

No, but you shall back up your stuff, just in case.

As for how much it takes, IDK, never had a battery replacement at Apple Store, I only did battery replacement once, and it was by myself, I replaced the battery on my 5S last year.

In Ireland they wont accept a phone for repair unless you disable find my iphone and it will come back wiped

I’ll do a full backup to iTunes just in case then!!

Will I have problems initialising a 5S from the backup of a 6S?

I took an 8 and a 6S in for battery replacement last week. It took 60-90 minutes, the 6S came back fine just as I left it, but in trying to remove the battery on the 8 the WiFi antenna broke, so they just gave me a new phone.

Oh it’s a while-you-wait service??

It can be, but you should schedule an appointment in advance. I think there may be more people doing this as the deadline for the reduced price of a battery replacement approaches. I'm going to get the battery replaced on my two-year-old iPhone 7. I'll keep it as a backup even if I buy one of the new phones.

I just had my 7 battery replaced. Scheduled an appointment several days in advance. 11 people (yes 11) called in sick so the Apple Store ran behind for hours. It should take 1 hour, but I was there 2 and a half hours waiting. Terrible customer service but is what it is. I backed up my phone to iTunes just in case (if they damage your phone they will replace with refurb) but no issues. Running behind they had no time to charge so I had about 6% battery when they handed it back to me.
