i downloaded a bunch of apps to test out. i did and deleted a good portion of them. i made the apps icons wiggle and "X" them out...but they are still on my itunes. will they come back onto the touch when i reconnect my ipod touch to my macbook or will it sync up and those apps will simply go away?

Your iPod syncs to what is in iTunes, not the other way around so yes, they will be reinstalled. However, go to the 'Applications' tab when you've connected your iPod and you should be able to select what Apps are synced (it may have to have manual sync enabled to do that though).
