I live in NYC (Manhattan in the east teens). For whatever reason, I happen to live in a small EDGE black hole. If I walk a few blocks north, south, or west, I get good EDGE service, but in my little neighborhood, it's GPRS only on my iPhone. It's been that way since June '07, when I switched from T-Mobile (which was equally EDGE-less on my block). AT&T looked up my street address and kindly informed me I had excellent EDGE coverage in my hood. Hah. I'm wondering if I can expect the same (lack of) coverage with 3G, or if 3G uses a different set of towers or something.
