I'm running Yosemite on an iMac. The past 2 mornings and occasionally in the past when I've taken my Mac out of sleep mode the following message is displayed:

Who or what is renaming my computer? Is this any type of security problem?
    Thanks for any feedback.

Do you have other computers or devices like Apple TV in your home network?
They usually share any internal network and each one is addressed by any ftp client with such names finishing with .local.
If any change in your network is made, for instance adding one more device, such name changes can be explained.

I have another iMac on the network along with a couple of Rokus, a couple of iPads and iPhones. I definitely haven't added any devices in a couple of months.

Install Cyberduck and see the names given to all the devices sharing your network. (Look under Bonjour).
Check if those names remain after shutting down a computer or other device.
You lose nothing by checking this.

Thanks for all the good. info. I feel better knowing that someone isn't poking around on my system.

If you aren't using 10.10.5, run software update and install that update and then run software update again to install any following security updates. It will fix this bug.
