What is with all the defenders to this obviously essential change that apple should implement? If touch id works flawlessly for you then great. But you should be able to have both as options.

I image these are the same people who defended why "cut and paste" wasn't necessary or why the keyboard is better showing upper case all the time.

Have yall not read the thread?

The main complaint is notifications like texts. You can't just swipe and easily reply back. You have to swipe to then get to the passcode screen, then you have to put your fingerprint in, THEN you get to reply to the text.

If it allowed you set the passcode/touchID to only be required after X amount of time, this could be avoided and it'd be less cumbersome in many facets actually. You'd be able to quickly swipe the text alert and reply instantly & directly. Basically, removing a cumbersome step. And if you text a lot, trust me, it's cumbersome... (because I know someone's gonna try and defend it lol)

Does changing autolock time for you work for your needs? Adds a bit of battery drain (although I think the screen still dims after a minute, just doesn't switch off and lock), but keeps it open a little longer to save you having to unlock it for you needs?

If not, submit a feature request and keep your fingers crossed for it to be added.

You can set it to ask for the pass code every four hours by turning off touch ID for the lock screen. They way you can still use touch id for other things and still be able to quick reply.

Gonna test this out and see how I like it. For moments when I'm sending/receiving a lot of texts, this will be very beneficial.

I did slowly adapt to just holding my thumb on the touchID... so I'm sure swiping to unlock will take some time to adjust to haha

You can set it to different intervals it doesn't have to be four hours. Personally I hate having a pass code on the lockscreen at all but I want the touch id for other things so this is the best solution I've found.

No one has addressed that by using the Touch ID makes in incredibly hard to use the phone when wearing gloves. The option to not require a passcode for a few minutes even when Touch ID is enabled is very much a needed option. Going from iPhone 5 to iPhone 6s, this is, so far, my only complaint. And it's pretty annoying as I wear gloves most of the time at work.

Wasn't this brought up for the 5s? I'm assuming Apple has no plans of changing this?

After a few days, I've gotten used to just resting my thumb on the home button until my screen opens... but responding instantly to texts still sucks.

You see the text message pop up on the lock screen, then you gotta swipe it, then you gotta put your thumb down to unlock, THEN you can reply to it.
Kind of annoying...

No.. You don't.

You're complaining about something without doing enough research.

If you want to reply to a message, swipe LEFT on the message instead of right, this will give you the option to respond to a message from the lock screen

I'd like time also with touch.
Even better would be location based. So if I'm home it wouldn't lock or not for a long time but if not home asap

You're replying to a post from more than a year ago.
