Your need for a case is going to be completely subjective. I wouldn't say I have ever been in a situation where I NEEDED a case, but I like to have one. Accidents do happen, I don't care how careful one is. If/when I drop my phone, I know it's protected.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

If your a clutz (like me) then yes. I drop mine from various heights basically everyday and the case saved it from cracking (tpu)

Uhhh depeneds, I didn't think I would need a case, seeing as I used to never drop my phone... Now almost every time I get out of the car it takes a 3ft drop... and my mothers got run over by a car, multiply times, so if you need a good case, I recommend the SPECK CANDYSHELL. Its survived everything!

I use a black Apple bumper for my black iPhone 4. The main reason is grip & giving the phone just enough lift off a surface so the camera lens doesn't make contact.

QUESTION IS: which color and the stitching on the sides or not

I have a black phone, so i bought a black case. Definitely no stitching on the side. Even with a white phone, I'd go with a black case because the white case will show dirt, and the black case is way more cool!:D

I just use a screen protector for the back and the front. But I rarely drop my phone, so I'm mainly concerned about scratches.

I use a bumper to prevent it from slipping out of my hands, since my hands are so slippery, especially during this cold weather! :D

Need? No, of course you won't need it. Want? That's up to you. I never do. The iPhone looks to nice to be covered in cases. Plus, I have AppleCare+. It's just a phone, it's replaceable. I've learned that cases are a waste of money, some cost the deductible you'd pay to get an AppleCare+ replacement.

Absolutely. I put on the thickest, sturdiest, most protective case I could find.

It literally doubles the bulk!

Why? Because when the iPhone 5 comes out, I want to be able to take my phone out of the case and have it retain maximum resell value since it'll be absolutely pristine.

You should protect your iPhone

you should protect your iphone 4 with a case/cover or at least a sleeve.
why? because it is made of glass and also because replacing a damaged glass screen can cost you about $100 (prior experience)

if you are a very careful person, you don't need cases.

if you are a person who goes on hiking and other aggressive sports, you may want to get your iphone cases from otterbox.

if you are like me (laid back) and prefer to alternate cheap iphone cases to stay in trend, you may like saraoutlet.

I kept my iPhone 3G naked for 3 years. I did drop it on a couple of occasions and it did crack in a few spots on the back, but the phone was still usable.

I'd like to keep my new iPhone 4S naked, but I've heard that since both the front and back are glass, it WILL shatter if you drop it, so I'm going to get a bumper to reduce the chances of that happening. You can easily get one for a few bucks (including shipping) off ebay. I'm going to get a bumper with black edges (my phone is black) and clear sides, that way the silver sides of the phone can still be seen and it won't be too obvious that I'm using a bumper.

I have front and back protectors on my iPhone 4 to protect it from scratches. I also have a bumper but I don't use it since I prefer the look and feel without. It somehow feels too bulky with it on.
