You probably don't need Antivirus

but you may need Firewall. I did a search on Symantec, I went through their virus definitions and found out that thre's only 1% of the virus defintion is for Mac. But after looking into those, they're trojan horses, which aren't viruses, and if they're not trojan horses, they're viruses that only infect you if you use Microsoft Office suite.
So the end, to today, there isnt any viruses for Mac.
Firewall on the other hand might come in handy if you download music alot. Or go on lot of "mysterious" website, if u know what I mean.
Hope this help

i too need an anti virus since i will send back and forth between pc and mac (i have a pretty good system setup on windows) but my school doesnt so.......

You have a great built in firewall in Mac OSX, but I still recommend Little Snitch for a personal firewall.

If you are running a Windows partition online then yes you need A/V or a security suite for that partition.

McAffee or ClamXav, never Nortons!

anti virus

well, because recently there has been an big increase in mac spyware/trojans i have got Norton antivirus 11 running on mine and it also protects against windows virus aswell which is useful for when i am doing parallels. Also it is NOT a RAM or prossecer hog i havent slowed down at all after installing it.

I don't think Norton for Mac protects a virtualized Windows environment.
