Do I need a thunderbolt 2 cable to take advantage of Thunderbolt 2?

My retina MBP has thunderbolt 2. Can I buy regular thunderbolt cables for it or do I need Thunderbolt 2 cables?

As above. Both the <3m copper and the long optical Tbolt cables work the same using either of the current versions of Tbolt (v1 & v2).

One suspects that may change with the forthcoming Tbolt v3 due late 2015, but obviously no one can be sure until it arrives.
