Do I need an app to watch video?

Just got an iPad and realized that most videos on websites don't play(yes I know about flash). I was wondering if there are apps that make it possible and if so, which ones work best. Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately no. Unless there is an app specifically for that video service or website (example: VEVO, BBC).

or jailbreak and get frash. I have not tried it myself but it seems to be a nice plugin.
