Do I need discrete

If I don't plan on playing ANY games or use any 3D CAD type of applications on a MBP, do I really need it

I do plan to watch video files of all types especially Hi Def video files. Does this warrant the need for discrete graphics.

Nah, you should be good with integrated. Shouldn't negatively affect your performance.
