I use google calendars on my mac, phone and iPad.

I don't have any local ical appointments on any of the devices, it's all google hosted and pulled in through the accounts I set up.

Am I right in assuming iCloud calendar syncing isn't needed in this case?

Would ical iCloud sync only be useful if you used a local calendar?

Or are there any advantages to using iCal locally and syncing with iCloud instead of google. It makes no odds to me which I use as all the data is pulled into iCal anyway. Just wondered what the advantages may be, if any with using local + iCloud.

Thanks

Currently, on my iPad for example, I have my google calendars and my iCloud calendars, which are appearing as separate calendars but the same info. I am going to turn off iCloud syncing unless someone can enlighten me on he potential advantages of it over google.
