Do I need to 'activate' my AppleCare?

Just bought a MacBook plus 3 year AppleCare. The AppleCare book and CD came in a separate package in the same shipment but just wondered is my notebook covered already or do I have to activate the AppleCare on this notebook?

If you bought them together it's pre-activated.

You can always go to the Apple's support site and put your serial number in as well.

AppleCare is automatic for one year from date of purchase. You will need to register your extended AppleCare by calling Apple. I believe you can also do this online.

However, depending on where you purchased the AppleCare, it may already be registered.
