Hello,

I have MacBook Pro latest generation: i5 processor with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD everything is running smoothly the only problem is I must run Windows 7 via VMware as long as I'm using my Mac due to the nature of my work.

When I start VMware the fan starts making noise but everything is still running good. Here's a screenshot:

Now I'm not sure if it's worth it to spend about $600 to upgrade the RAM to 8GB.

Will I see better performance and can this make the fan noise a little bit less annoying?

Please advise.

Instead of the RAM usage check the CPU usage.

However the fans ramping up would be due to the extra processing power and heat generated due to running both OSX and Windows 7 in virtual machine using VMWare Fusion.

Have you considered installing it via boot camp? It may run smoother without OS X also running in the background.

Thanks for your inputs.

80% is idle in worst scenarios.

8GB would definitely help if you're running VMs. 2x4GB is only 228$ from OWC

I don't want to reboot. 80% of my work is done in Mac.
