Not sure if it is just me , But I REALLY have a hard time with the idea of selling my Macs !
I have happily sold PC's when I want to upgrade , but with my Macs I simply can't bring myself to :D

I have only been 'onboard' since the first Intel iMac , then bought a Macbook when they came out , I then bought a unibody MBP (telling the wife it would replace the iMac and the macbook ) , but when it came down to it I was not prepared to get rid of either , I think the reason is because neither have ever let me down , and now at a couple of years old , they still outperform my daughters (higher specced) PC's for the day to day stuff !
I had some problems with the MBP , so returned it and decided not to get another until things sounded more stable , but in the meantime I have bought a Rev A 1.8 SSD MBA.

much as I love the Air , I would not be able to bring myself to sell your 12" PB in fact , despite being well before my time , I have often considered buying on of these of eBay !! The old powerbooks look simply awesome IMO , and the 12" powerbook is a real classic.

i've been using my 12"PB as a netbook for some time now. amidst all of the speculation that Apple would bring out a netbook/tablet, it brought a smile to my face when i saw that benchmark test pairing an iBook G4 to an MSI wind last week. if you hold a deep sentimental value with your powerbook, then keep it. at least use it as a netbook so you don't spill coffee on your air while you're out.

just remember that everyone loved the G4 Cube, but when the mac mini was released - there really wasn't a reason to gush over it anymore.

however, when it comes to the iMac G4 that Willis sold - i could never ever do that. it's just so landmarkably-beautiful :)

what about this?

I don't post very often, but, if I were in your shoes, I would do the following...

Sell your macbook, cause you are 100% positive you will get rid of it for the air and buy the air. If you find that you really don't need your PB G4 anymore, then you can sell that too. Unless of course, you really need the money up front, in which case, as other people have said, you wouldn't be getting the air in the first place!

cheers!

P.S. I replaced my 12" PB G4 with a white macbook. And while I DO miss the keyboard going to the edge, the aluminum case, and ultra small feel, it feels nice to have widescreen, a better battery life, faster, and a computer that will "bridge the gap between my legs when I put it on my lap so I don't have to sit awkwardly."

The MBA has landed!

Well, I bought the Air last night, and despite a few lines on the screen (not sure if it bothers me or not though) it is perfect, and it handles my daily tasks (so far) without hitch. So, it could be the PB12 replacement. I already have my Black MB on eBay, and my Mac mini will be going on next week (before the rush of Mac mini's on eBay once the new one is released). As for the PB12? I am going to put it in it's box on top of the cupboard for a few months, if I don't use it by June it is going too...
