My mother has an iPad 2. It works except for the fact she can't update the OS as her laptop is pretty much kaput and I don't think she ever set up iTunes on there.

So here we are, considering the iPad Air 2, so we can still visit sites that don't bomb out due to flash incompatibilities and such nonsense.

Would she still need a laptop to sync with if she needs to update the OS? What about if she wants to buy apps?

Thanks,

Jon

You can own and operate an iPad without any PC right now. iCloud allows you to back up the entire device, and in most cases for free. They give you 5 gigs for free on iCloud.

Just create an iCloud account and set it to back up automatically.
