I had my iPad Pro for a couple years and lately when I shut it off or plug it into charge ,it will not restart.
It doesn’t always respond to The home and sleep buttons simultaneously pressed. I have connected to the computer and wiped and re-installed it once. I think it responds better now to the two button start up.

I took it to a genius he ran a diagnostic and said everything that he could check looks good. He suggested the board may be failing!
My question is has anybody had an iPad fail on them not due to any accident?
Wondering if I should trade it in now for $200 off a new one?

iOS devices don’t need to be started with two buttons though so I’m not really sure what you are trying to accomplish there?

Omg ok hi thank you for the reply. Perhaps I wasn’t clear. Sorry I thought I was.
The iPad has crashed if you like. It crashes all the time. Though crash is the wrong word.. It’s more like it won’t turn on in the normal manner . It requires a two button procedure to turn on. Sometimes this works sometimes not. Requires patience. Something is wrong with the iPad. I plugged it into my computer yesterday to back it up and it was stalled because My iMac said the iPad was in “recovery mode “

Perhaps someone could shed some light on what “Recovery Mode” is.

I think recovery mode is a mode the device can get into so that iTunes can see it and restore it to factory condition. If I‘m not mistaken, the only option you have when the thing is in recovery mode is to restore via iTunes. If the issue afterwards is still the same I‘d suspect a hardware problem.

Best success!
