Do Joysticks work with Mac?

I have a PS2-like USB joystick. It works fine with PC, but when I pluged it into my iMac it wasn't recognised and didn't work.
Do I have to set my iMac up to read it or won't it work at all?

Try USB Overdrive.

You could also try XBCD, but it has less of a chance of working than USB Overdrive.
