Leather weighs: 0.945/cm^3
Polyurethane weighs: 0.95 g/cm3
Plastics are generally: 1.15 g/cm^3

Conclusion: for same volume cases leather is lighter. Thats pure leather though. I think leather cases have other materials to stiffen the leather inside which may cause an increase in average density.
