I have a 20 in matt apple cinema display, from when apple made the 20 & 23 in matt displays. I notice it can be used with a mini display port to DVI adapter, but when I looked at images of the back of the 2008 8 core 2.8 mac pro, it does not seem to have the right hook up.

an they be hooked up to a mac pro? how would it hook up to the 8 core 2.8ghz 2008 model?

You can use DVIs and there are adaptors if necessary for Mini Display to DVI...about $40 (I use one).

could you link me to the one you use?, also, could I see a picture of how you use the hookups on your mac pro & monitor? I know this might be asking a bit, but I want to make sure it will all work with what I have before I consider getting a mac pro myself.

You are asking other people to answer questions that are easily available online and if you just look at the back of your Mac.

    1. Google "DVI". Observe what the connectors look like. If you don't know what other connector types (VGA, etc) look like...educate yourself. But generally nowadays Macs and their graphic cards usually have either DVI or MiniDisplay or often, you'll see one of each.
    2. Look at the back of your mac to see the connectors coming out of your graphics card. You'll have your answer very quickly.

I dont have a mac pro right now, so I cant look around the back, but I may get one later in spring or summer, but I have a 20 in apple cinema display that I now use with my macbook pro, this is why I am asking, to be sure everything fits together before I buy.

I did a google of DVI & there are alot of different types, & I looked this up; http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/stats/mac-pro-eight-core-2.8-2008-specs.html from what I can see, it states it has 2 dual link DVI ports, & from other images of the mac pro 8 core 2.8, the plug from my monitor looks like a DVI-D dual link male end, would my DVI-D monitor plug plug into a dual link DVI-I link?

The 2008's have normal DVI, they didn't need an adaptor.
