Do Macs get viruses?

One theory I've heard is that Macs CAN and DO get viruses, it's just that since 10% of all computers are Macs (around that mark? or is it 5%?)... then hackers/people that make viruses, target the larger audience (Windows).

Do any of you install firewalls/anti-virus software? I don't own a Mac, but I'm considering purchasing one in the future.

Do Macs get viruses? - Anything is possible. But there are currently zero out there for Macs. However, Macs can get worms and trojans. There are TONS of threads relating to viruse, worms, and the like all over MR.

Eveyone should use firewalls, but anit-virus software is not necessary.

Always know what you are installing and only use your Admin password when you are sure

They CAN, but they DON'T, in today's world.

They don't get viruses but they do get these things called trojans.

But for a trojan to run you have to give it your admin password.

Macs can get viruses only in the sense that a virus that affects Windows can be passed through. So yes, they can, but they don't get sick from them.
