Hello guys,

I'm looking to purchase my first Apple Watch and I've been absolutely overwhelmed with the amount of choices. I found a great deal online for the SS Model (600 euros!). However, I read that the Milanese loops can damage the watch because it's made of something called DLC, which is essentially just as scratching as diamonds.

Is this still a problem and should I be wary of the milanese loops?

My graphite S6 (non-DLC) has marks on both the steel and the sapphire crystal from using the Milanese Loop. It’s nice, but proceed with caution.

The black DLC coated band is the worst for scratching. So beware.

DLC is only on the black band and the stainless band has no DLC.

Are you sure that it's only on the black bands?
Absolutely. The silver is just stainless steel with no coating. The black band is the same stainless steel but with the DLC coating applied. The DLC coating is what makes it black.

I picked up a series 7 for a great deal recently - SS with the Milanese. Is it safe to say that because the band is not DLC that it won’t scratch the sapphire face or the back? I can live with mild case scratching, which was why I went with the SS.

‘The black Apple Milanese is coated with DLC and WILL scratch both your watch case and the face.
