Do New Macbook chargers work on old Macs?

I have a Macbook White (in my signature) and was wondering if I could use the new chargers on it since my old one is dead.

The magsafe 2 charger included with the latest macbook pros and macbook airs are slightly slimmer and wider than the original magsafe charger. A magsafe 2 charger can be used on magsafe 1 devices with a small adapter.

I am not aware of any magsafe 2 to 1 adapter, I've only seen the magsafe 1 to 2 adapter.
