Hi,

how can that be, that macOS Focus / Mute Mode is so broken?!

Is there still no fix for muting sounds while on a video call?! How bad is macOS?

What are you doing to fix this stupid behavior?

Focus mode disables only macOS native notifications. It would be hard to disable every app custom notifications.
Which app is coming thru?

For me it's incoming mails from Outlook. So annoying. I need those notifications all the time. But during video conferences it is quite annoying.

I thought, it does mute all notifications - not only apple native notifications.

Do I have to search for an 3rd party app to solve those issues?

It depends on how Outlook plays those sounds. It could be they play it in a way that to macOS looks like a normal audio, not an alert or notifications. macOS has got no way to know what should block and what not if the app itself doesn't tell it what's playing.

On iOS it's easier, everyone uses the right API, on macOS it's a bit of wild-west thanks to all the previous custom implementations.

I would report the issue to Microsoft and ask them to fix it to play nice with Focus mode.

When I have focus on blocking outlook notification, sometimes my watch will still deliver notifications from outlook.
