I have ordered an iPhone X (upgrading from iPhone 7) and just realized that 'do not disturb' indicator does not appear on the top bar and that it is visible only in the control center;
This is a bummer for me 'cause I put my phone in that mode each night and in case I forget to switch back, I would lose important calls; An indicator on top would help me notice that its still on.
Does anyone have any idea if this would be changed in future iOS updates or should I just leave a feedback to apple and learn to live with it...
(Super excited to get the phone though!)

Unfortunately, you'll need to go the route of just checking Control Centre and leaving feedback for Apple, as there isn't an easy indicator on your screen for this on the iPhone X.

Same issue when moving the side switch. Most of the time, the switch gets moved unintentionally and there is no way to see the status except by turning the phone over to look at the switch.

There has never been a visual indicator for the silent/vibrate switch, it's not something new related to iPhone X.

That said, there's a fairly big digfeence there in that the side switch can actually be seen physically without doing anything on the device, and even when the device isn't on.

The feature in question is the do not disturb function, manually accessible from Control Center and customizable through Settings » Control Center, not the silent/vibrate function or the switch on the side of the device.

On iOS and watchOS devices (other than the iPhone X), you will see a blue crescent moon icon at the top of your screen to indicate when do not disturb is currently active.

You can find more specific information on Do Not Disturb in Apple's help article here.

Edit: I just re-read your posts and realized I misunderstood what they were saying. I'll just leave this stuff here in case it can help someone else.

Just to clarify: my post was in reply to someone else who wasn't talking about Do Not Disturb.

That would be rather helpful to have that moon as a reminder.

One thing that helped me with this issue is to set DND to turn on AND off at 0600. That way, if I forget to turn it off in the morning, it doesn't matter. I don't like to set a time range because I go to bed at different times each night. I always remember to turn it on at night. It's the morning that I sometimes forget. This takes care of it!
