Do old software versions get kept indefinitely?

i've just updated to 2.2 and notice that my mac still keeps 2.1 (library > itunes > itunes software updates). will it keep all old iphone software versions?

I suppose, not much to worry about though, as they don't come very often.

You can delete them, but if you're that short of space, you should look for other ways to economize space, since they're not really that big....
