I have a March-2008 Pernyn MBP. I was wondering if anyone knew if they could use 800 MHZ FSB RAM? I found a deal on newegg for 800 mhz 4 gigs of ram that is only 13 bucks more then the normal ram used for MBP. It says it is for iMacs though.

    Anyone know?

Santa Rosa supports up to DDR2-667 on the MacBook Pro.

While it should work and simply downclock to 667MHz according to JEDEC, some reports of people trying it got a non working machine with the 800MHz.

Haven't seen if people have had more luck lately, with RAM that works in the iMac.

Sort of really is a non-issue since the MacBooks skipped directly to DDR3 anyhow so it isn't like you will keep them for the next machine.
