I've found that iPad pro refreshes occasionally if you're constantly switching apps. If I'm just in safari with four to five tabs it doesn't refresh. I don't use more than that. If I have a keyboard attached I've found an easy way to not touch the screen is just open a new tab to search then I close them as I go along.
