I was in an Apple Reseller shop yesterday to have a look at the new M1 MacBooks and it appeared to me that the keyboard on the M1s have slightly less key travel than the Intels. The M1 were in between the Intel and the butterfly keyboard. Was this my flawed perception or do the M1's keyboards really have less key travel than the Intel's or previous scissor switch keyboards?

On MR, you may get different answers. I have a M1 MBA. I have tested the keyboard on the 2020 Intel and in my opinion, there isn't as much travel with the M1. It isn't a big significance but, it was just enough to be noticeable. Others here may disagree with me. I think it also has a lot to do with one's typing style.

I had the same impression! However, staff insisted that they are identical... I just didn't buy it.

(pun intended)
