Do things randomly disappear from your Dock?

I had to take a picture of my Dock, because my icons shuffle themselves around or just mysteriously disappear after I turn my computer back on (if it's been off).
Has this happened to anyone else? I'm pretty sure I'm not crazy..

Yeah many newbies fall for this. to make sure that your app are actually saved on the dock, before switching off your mac quit (command + Q) the program. if it is saved on the doc, it should not disappear. if it does disappear it means that you didn't place it properly in the dock.

Yeah I know that.. But I think it may be that my brother sometimes gets onto my computer and moves stuff around.. But I'm pretty sure things have just disappeared without me knowing, and I just realise when I need to use it.
