TSE macrumors 601 Original poster Jul 20, 2011 #1 If I buy a Mini Displayport to HDMI Port, will the Thunderbolt port provide both video and sound?
WardC macrumors 68030 Jul 20, 2011 #2 I believe so. They support everything that MiniDisplayPort supports plus multi-chaining of Displays (up to two) and chaining of high speed I/O peripherals like external RAID array systems (Promise RAID)

S shurcooL macrumors 6502a Jul 20, 2011 #3 Thunderbolt is a superset of Mini DisplayPort. Mini DisplayPort supports sound (as of 2010 models), so Thunderbolt will too. Just make sure you get an Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter that supports audio passthrough (most of them do, but do check).
