I was wondering if you guys take care of your power bricks (aka power adapters) or do you just drag'em around on the floor.

Shame on me for wasting time on a topic like this.

What are you expecting to get from your question?

Gee - I drag it behind my car and use it for a soccer ball replacement.

I polish it every evening and place it on a soft pad and never let human hands touch it without disinfecting them first.

Or what????

OCD is getting more rampant on our Forum by the minute.

its just a power brick lol. It stays on the floor and occasionally gets dragged about 3 feet towards my bed when I want to lay back and use my laptop in bed.

Yup, I attach several strings with duct tape to my power brick and suspend it in air so that NOTHING touches it besides the purity that is Gods breath.

The only thing I am concerned about is the strain relief on either end of the Magsafe cord. I have seen so many frayed and burnt cords both on the brick end and the Magsafe end that I take great care with it. Dragging the brick on the floor won't help in this regard.

I do. I've got the old powerbook model and it's awful. Incredibly expensive and I usually barely get a year out of them before they fray/burn out near the plug at the computer end. Like priller I'm lucky to get a year out of them.

i have a early 2008 MBP which the brick does nothing but sit on my floor, and has had to be replaced 2 times. but i also have a iBook g3 from 01 that the brick looks like it has been through a fire, twice, and still works great.

My power brick is a little scratched up (and you cant see it unless light's reflecting off it :p) - a result of having to take it into work one day where they have this really awful flooring, and the position of the power outlet meant it had to be on the floor. At home it's virtually always on carpet, so it doesn't do any damage.

Who cares. It's a thing... just like these damn computers. Boo hoo I got a scratch, boo hoo I need to wrap it in a protective condom to protect it from harm and STD's. Ya know what? I bet half of the people who whine about scratches and dings and bumps and their damn power bricks getting F'd in the A all sit at their machines and do NOTHING other than browse MacF'nRumors.

Disgruntled much?

Anyways, yea this thread is a bit absurd. However, I personally take care of anything I own because in the event later I might sell it - it makes it easier to sell if you take care of the things you own.

I once kicked the s*** out of one (accidentally - my pinky toe took the brunt of it) while it was plugged in. Broke the plug, but the "brick" part itself was fine. It's usable with the "extension" cord.

Our new dog eats them like candy. I've spent $150 on power cords for laptops in the last 4 months.

I took the poor bastard to the vet last week to get neutered. I actually enjoyed that. :D

You know that the duckhead plugs (i.e. the part that you broke) is like a 4 dollar part on ebay. At least for me, sometimes that extension cord becomes a little cumbersome to take with me while I am on the road. So just in case you didn't know, you could pick up the duckhead on ebay.

Aah, I didn't know, but I bought a whole new adapter anyway. It actually worked out well because I can leave the "extension" cord plugged in behind my desk and attach the brick to it without having to crawl underneath the desk.

I can't possibly be the only one who's used his head to knock a desk drawer off its rails :eek::eek:

Fair enough. Yes I too leave an adapter plugged in at my desk and yes, I have knocked my head several times. Perhaps not quite to the extent of knocking the desk drawer off of its rails, but hit my head nonetheless.

Disgruntled... yes. Well maybe being super sick has something to do with it. :p

I take care of my stuff to sell later as well... but this is getting ridiculous. There should be a new forum dedicated to those who are OCD over their crap that way the realists in the crowd don't get bombarded with crap threads every day. I work with Autistic kids with OCD tendencies who are less compulsive than some people in here.
