Do u think Apple had the iPhone 5 ready but didn't release it because of Jobs health?

I think the question you need to ask is why would they possibly do that?

It makes no sense from a business or sentimental perspective. Postpone a device for nearly a year out of respect?! Even if it is postponed for a shorter period then that would seriously annoy a lot of customers.

I really can't see where the advantage would be.

Please enlighten me.
I don't have an answer I'm certain of, but the impact of a new all-singing all-dancing iPhone could have been seen as being overshadowed by the death of the company's primary driving force for the past 15 years.

PR is mammoth, especially to Apple who appear to regularly do well in annual awards for best PR. That's why we get Keynotes and not just a list of specs.

Again, we're just surmising folks (and it certainly isn't a "stupid" question), no need for some of the arrogant petulance :)

Why whould they withheld it? Beacuse of the name? That's BS, it's just an upgrade from 4, therefore it's called the "S", just coincidence that it can be spelled "for S(teve)".

Because I am looking for a possible answer to the question why it took 16 months and there was no larger screen.

The possible theory arises from the long term perspective. If we consider the last 3-4 years have been spectacular game changing phenomenons of technology inventions and powerhouse releases one after the other, now all of a sudden we have a lul in innovation coinciding with the year of the end of his life.

How many times has he been portrayed as narcissistic? How many times has he been reported to be controlling for the sake of the bigger picture?

People who were close to him within weeks and months of his imminent end reported he treated it with a sense of romanticism. How small is the release compared to the masterstrokes of his life?

The bigger screen iPhone 5 should be a happy time of next generation evolutions, not a mixed bag of feelings.

Right now Apple could have been thinking about momentum and saving something for the next big push. They set up for next time to be an exciting fresh start to the post-Jobs empire. (as opposed to having the 5 now in this tumultuous time, and giving us a 5S or something later)

Right now they don't need anything more than a 4S and they were able to get away with it.

Doctors knew an estimation of his life left weeks before.

If they came and said, Steve will be gone in 2-4 months. How will people take it? How shall we proceed?

I don't know but the human element is a real element. Especially when faced with the epic drama of your life ending, who knows what your wishes and priorities might be.

Im not saying anything, Im just saying the rude people making comments that its the stupidest thing they ever heard maybe haven't explored all the variables.

On the other hand, conspiracy theorist see certain variables, and ignore others.

Why is this theory impossible again? Without calling us stupid.

No this follows Apple pattern so far with the 3G and then 3GS. Still contemplating on getting the 4S especially knowing they will redesign the 5. I guess I will wait until Nov.

There is no reason why Apple or any company for that fact, would spend over a year of development on a product and not release it because their CEO was ill. If every close friend of Steve Jobs at Apple were to dig deep in their hearts and do what Steve would have wanted, they would have released it. Tell me why Steve Jobs would not want a groundbreaking phone released because he was sick, he has always been dedicated to the company moving forward. Why would he want to take that away from the company he built from the ground up?

no manufacture

I don't really think we know if companies has ACTUALLY gone to manufacturing of cases on the apparent iphone 5 design for cases.

I know we've seen what appear to be cases for a phone like the iphone 5 POTENTIAL design, but we haven't heard of anyone actually going to volume MANUFACTURE for them, have we?

It COULD be that this is a design for a new ipod TOUCH? More gaming, application, video device than phone? Bigger screen, doesn't have to have the guts, cellular radios, diversity antenna design, SIM slot, etc., that a phone has. It might be that apple is moving in that direction with a new enhanced music/video/application/gaming devices on the touch platform.

No way. The plan was to always introduce an S version. Look at all of Apples hardware cycles. 2 cycles with before any hardware redesign.

The hype was all built up in the online community.

There are also people out there who make comments like: With Steve gone, it means the decline of Apple.

Its not true but there is a certain amount of people who hold that perception.

There will never be an iPhone 5, the next one will be the iPhone 6. It won't have a larger screen, Apple doesn't want to dilute their retina display or make things harder for the devs, and nobody sane actually wants a massive phone. Get an iPad if you want something larger, that's what it's there for.
