Contacted iphones usually go on sale at the usual sale period - i.e. black friday, christmas, etc-, but do unlocked, contact-free current iphones ever go on sale as well?

By "current", I mean the newest models. So right now it is iphone 6/6+ and before September last year, 5s and so on. So not talking about the previous generation contact-free iphones getting discounted once the newer generation comes out. I should also mention that I am talking about "new" iphones from legitimate stores like Apple, best buy, target, Amazon, phone carrier companies, etc and excluding ebay and those new in open boxes deals.

I don't remember them ever getting discount of any kind year around, so I figured I would ask the forum here. Anybody remember seeing such promotion and/or bought one for less than the full price?
Thanks.

Never. Only times I've seen it is when Best Buy cleard out really really old Apple unlocked iPhones, and even then it's overpriced like crazy. Why not just get a pre-unlocked VZW model, or ATT model and fill out the unlock form w/ receipt, or have a Sprint/T-Mobile friend ask for an unlock for you?

We get them straight away in the U.K. Because we have a variety of providers and sim only deals right across the board.

I think this year the u.s might get the same due to your phone providers moving over to similar pricing structures to ours where the phones aren't so much subsidised any more.

Wait till T-Mobile has a sale and then but it outright and then get it unlocked.

Back in February, I got my 64GB 6+ for $100 off, bought it outright and they unlocked it the same week.

I thought you had to have it on their service for 40 days? Regardless, my wife and I did that for her 64GB 5S (she was moving from a 4 and didn't want the larger 6). T-Mobile had it the same price as the 16GB 5S ($549) and a promo with $72 off. Now her and I won't have to worry about her not getting iOS security updates with the newer versions, and she has plenty of storage for her photos and stuff; coming from her 8GB iPhone 4.

If you buy it outright, they will unlock it once they verify it is paid for in full. I only waited about three days after receiving my phone. It showed online that it was paid on full instantly.

Thank you very much. I will be asking about getting my wife's unlocked tonight!

I called T-Mobile to have each of my phones unlocked at about 7AM. I got the unlock email at about 10AM for each phone. They are very fast, just do it early in the morning.

Also, you no longer have to restore an iPhone to get it unlocked once you get the unlock email from your carrier. Just insert your new carriers sim, the phone will respring and you are prompted to enter your iCloud email and password. The phone is then instantly unlocked. I had to wait about 6 hrs after getting the email before my iPhone would unlock.

I bought my 6+, Note Edge and Note 4 outright so I was able to get each one unlocked pretty much immediately. My only problem is that AT&T is horrible where I live so T-Mobile is my only reliable carrier.
