We already know about the SDK. It was already announced. Restating the announcement by Apple without content would be a waste of time. I am guessing that if there is some SDK announcement than it will be with some content that has been developed by Apple or a close partner. Before the rest of the world gets a shot at it.

I'm not talking about apple talking about the SDK I'm talking about it being released, I know it was promised in February but it's better to release stuff sooner than expected for the "wow" effect.

At the very least i hope there is some kind of update, even if it is just incremental. On the other hand, i want even more for Steve to tell us that the SDK is out starting now, and everyone in the room will be walking away with everything they need to start it up and get apps out by tomorrow, FOR FREE (fat chance, i know, but we can dream right) :)

The new iPhone? The whole beauty of this device is that because it relies entirely on software, is can be updated and given new feature sets. Of course there will be new hardware released at some point, but I would be very surprised if any software updates werent also distributed to older models. This will be just like mac: new hardware from time to time, same great software.

SRSound since your ignorance is bliss.... Software can't make a 2g phone turn 3g. Software can't turn 8gb into 16gb unless some how Steve figured out how to do some neat trick with file compression... You missed the point of my post...

1.1.x could be released tomorrow or in 3 months depends on the timeline of what Apple has planned. If I recall the last time Steve said there was going to be a update it was 3 days later on a Friday night... but given the hype of MacWolrd we can hope he has it out just minutes after his keynote speech.

I hope at the very least, he shows how 3rd party apps will be distributed. I am guessing it will be iTunes instead of a free for all. It would also be great if he said some apps will be ready for release this week/month instead of late Feb.

Yeah, I misread your post (kindly pointed out by abiyng87) but that was unnecessary. Since I already own an iPhone, I am not concerned with whatever new hardware is coming next - just apps and updates.

My money is on something being released tomorrow after iTunes did its check for updates today and set the next date to check as tomorrow. Usually it sets a two week gap?
someone else on here noted theirs changing the date back from the 19th till tomorrow, and as itunes 7.6 is also due for release I'd predict some new functionality with itms, hopefully movies for the uk and the first apps?

I just did an update check and mine says it will recheck on the 22nd.

mines decided today that tomorrow it will check again. Maybe after the keynote, 5pm here in UK, so prob release tomorrow morning here if anything does come out.

1.2 and 1.1.3

I bought my iPhone a couple of weeks ago and the apple shop assistant in regent street said 15th January for 1.1.3 ....

so I think its a go

Me too. I upgraded iTunes to 7.6 and the first time I clicked on the update button it was there. 162.1 MB. It's about half way through...

Ridiculous

I find it utterly atrocious that apple wants to charge me $20 for applications that they gave away on the iphone. That is absolute bull. A factor that made me buy the iPod touch was because apple said that they had other features down the line that they would be adding. I didn't expect to have to pay for such applications! I gave them $400+ of my money for an iPod touch and THEY WANT MORE?!?! Jailbreak it is. I am very pissed off. I love apple and have always granted them praise, but this is an outrage.
