I was going to get a 5 when it was on a good sale, but was too hesitant for whatever reason, now I just feel like I will wait until the 6 comes out.... I know things are only rumors but are there any indications at all? With COVID-19 I know things are delayed....

TIA

you forgot 2 options
"I don't know"
"I know, but work at apple, and have an NDA, so can't talk about it"

there is no estimate, we can only guess by previous years.
And not sure if you've been paying attention to the news lately, but this year is a little different than normal.

All of us "regular people" get our news from the same place as you, so we've all heard the same rumors you have.

We really don’t know. Normally a new Apple Watch is released with the new iPhone but now it appears the iPhone 12 is delayed to October. It might the Apple Watch is also delayed or they release them separately.

I didn’t vote.... Because it really doesn’t matter. And I don’t mean that to be dismissive, as long as Apple launches the Apple Watch within the fourth quarter before Black Friday, that’s really all that matters. They already have their projections in place, it’s really about when, not if. But the net revenue ending for Apple is crucial to finish off the 4th strong.

Based on rumours, either

1) next week
2) October
3) November with the iPhone

With how almost all models are out of stock online with the exception of a few to be shipped Sept 17-19 in Canada, I have a hard feeling that it’s going to be announced next week. I can’t imagine Apple discontinuing stock on a product with a whole month in advance.

Or it could be 1 and 2

Next week could be the rumoured series 3 upgrade. The lower priced entry level watches. Loaded with watchOS 6 still. Just a press release would be ideal

and then October for the series 6 with watchOS 7.

They won’t delay them till November since the iPhone 12 is releasing after all in October.

At first sight, a release next week would be likely given the rumours and the shipping delays. However, a new Apple Watch would definitely ship with watchOS 7, and watchOS 7 requires an iPhone with iOS 14. So we should see both watchOS 7 and iOS 14.

We might see an announcement next week with pre-order end of this month, for example. Or they wait to release it at the iPhone event.

So, we have no idea. But it's very likely this month or next month.

Some rumour sites are saying the AW6 could be revealed next week alongside a replacement for the AW3 at the £199 price point. The £199 AW is what im interested in to replace my Series 1.

I have seen some people mention an Apple Watch SE. Neither Kuo or any of the other usual prediction suspects have talked about an SE model that I recall. I don’t put any stock in this particular news.

Definitely possible. Everyone and their grandmother knows the Series 6 isn’t really slated to be that big of a upgrade this year. I really don’t think it probably needs its own presentation, unless Apple has something ‘on point’ that’s worth noting over the Series 5. As of this last year, they’ve been doing a lot of ‘press releases’, mainly because I don’t think some of these products really need to have an audience.

I tend to agree, however, iOS14 and WatcOS 7 both seem to be in the final beta stages and a release in a couple of weeks might be possible.

Assuming the Watch launches next week with Pre-orders Friday and the 8th version of each beta could also release next week with the GM / actual the next Friday to coincide with the new watch. That said, that would be around 90 days in beta, which would be low for a new version. Although, this has been the best beta I can recall.

I guess the point is there is nothing to suggest either OS upgrade is delayed. I’m wondering if the slight delay this week in iOS betas wasn’t to accommodate aios version with min references to the iPhone 12 features. Also, it would not be unprecedented for a point of the latest to come out to support new devices at launch.

Yes this supposed AW SE is basically the AW3 with updated internals, probably like the current iphone SE, which I would be happy with if £199 but rumours say it’s coming next week with others saying next March!

I noticed today that Apple has increased trade in value of prior watches from up to $140 to now up to $155.

we may know as soon as tomorrow as rumor has it there will be some sort of announcement....

I saw that number last night. Apple is always very low in watch trade in. B&H isn’t much better at $255. I am guessing we have about 30 hours to find out if any press release or announcement is going to happen.
