Just curious how you guys prioritize JB on tablets in relation to phones,

I tried 10.5" but had some junk screens with a nasty yellow edge so happily back on 9.7" pro (and glad I didnt sell it)

Plus saving a lot of coin

If there's a sale and JB, it might be more tempting

But i like my 9.7

My iPad is secondary to my iPhone, so it really doesn't matter. But if I can jailbreak it I will.

My Air 2 came with 8.1. I immediately jailbroke it. In September it will be two years.

TDF--are you asking if people buy an iPad in anticipation of a jailbreak? Maybe buy it now rather than wait till the price comes down, as by that time the window for a jailbreak may be closed? If you buy an iPad before a jailbreak, do you sell your old iPad and just work with the new iPad that is without a jailbreak?

For me, I only buy devices if they fit in my workflow. I only use jailbreaking anymore for bluetooth mouse support. I'm really tempted by the 10.5 pro, but I can't justify the purchase yet, and by the time I do (eventually I always give in to my device lust) there may or may not be a jailbreak available.

I bought my iPad Pro back in January and immediately jailbroke it. I messed up the JB on it about a month later and restored to 10.2.1. Now it's on 10.3.1 and sitting in a drawer along with my jailbroken iPad Mini 2. I don't use them all that much anymore so JB or not, it really makes no difference to me.

My daily iPhone is my 6S+ which is stock. I have a 6S and 6+ jailbroken but I mostly just use them at home.

I just bought a regular 9.7 iPad to replace my 2010 original iPad running 5.1.1, which has been pretty much ususable for several years with its 256 MB of RAM and constant crashes, whether jailbroken or stock.

The new iPad is currently on iOS 10.3.1, and I will be leaving it there for the time being. I made the mistake of upgrading my iPhone 6s from iOS 9.1 to 9.2, which delayed me from having a jailbreak for months (9.1 jailbreak unexpectedly came out before the one for 9.3.xx).

ive lucked out on ipad upgrades recently in relation to JB

When i got my air 2 that i had for a while it had 8.4 when 8.4.1 was what was being signed for some time

That and I got a good screen and a great sale price, I was so pumped

When I got my 9.7 pro, it was a great deal and a keeper display (had a few non-sale dud screen 9.7's i returned and waited it out for a while) but 9.3.3 jailbreak came out like a week later by coincidence

So I guess I dont buy new iPad hardware only when there's a jb (usually dont for phones either if I'm lusting for new hardware) BUT i always keep a jailbroken device before making the leap, in some form

I think I should do the same with iPads these days (not flip until there's a new JB I can cozy into), since I do rely on quite a few tweaks that make the experience better like YouTube PiP and shortcut keys I can customize to make top # row all mappable with control+that key to have function like functionality on Smart keyboard

And I love using Tage with a pencil :D

I did test drive ios 11 on 10.5 for a few days, its nice but I still value my customization

(And probably should save some money for rolling the dice with iPhone 8, couldn't find a good 10.5 display but thats another topic for another thread which I got going on)

As much as I love jailbroken devices, this has zero bearing on when I buy a phone or iPad.

To speculate on the next JB and timing it with a buy or to buy an iPad now to ready myself for a possible JB later is far-fetched.

There's no rumors of anything pending anyway so what would be the point.

like I said on another topic, jailbreak on my iPad is secondary so no, I dont really care. I mostly jailbreak my iPad for testing purpose before putting those tweaks on my phone.

But like the user before me says, if I need a new iPad or iPhone, I will buy it and just stay stock if there is no current jailbreak. JB is a bonus for me and its not essential, but when I can jailbreak, of course I will and I'll stay on it as long as I can,

I went android because my tablet is a streaming device. No kodi without a JB.

Then I learned you could side load kodi and bought the new 2017 iPad.

Too bad you can't on Windows.

On the other hand, there is Plex...and it works on multiple platforms.

Well I don't know if you own a laptop or desktop but does you windows machine not have a hdmi slot!?? I have a 1tb beats audio hp envy 15 or 17 or something like that with 16gb ram windows 10 and kodi is in the windows store... just add repos and plug in hdmi and play whatever in hd... do you not have this option?

On another note however I use my 128gb TSMC 6s 10.2 or since gifting it to the girlfriend she uses it and I use my iPhone 7 128 jet black 10.1.1 with extra_recipe and we both stream kodi or anything else we want to my Apple TV and have no lag or issues at all it's all so seamless, makes me realize my next laptop will without a doubt be a MacBook Pro because everything apple always just works for me

Ive jailbroken since os2 and had every single device original iPhone -Iphone 7 besides a 5s on or shortly after launch Got a 5s over a year after release with broken screen cheap and fixed it up... however I always end up with a jailbreak... really I don't enjoy androids at all they hate me a freeze and crash when I push them the way I do my iPhones I had galaxy s7 edge and it lasted me literally 3 months and then I had screen problems purple green and red lines and flashing and Samsung of coarse blamed me for whatever reason!!!! Apple seems to just always look into my account history and see all the iPhones on my iCloud and normally say hold on I will be right back and give me a replacement if I have problems ( this has happened all of 2 times) 1 for Iphone 5 not charging from cheap non made for Iphone certified charger frying the charging chip u2ic chip I believe... it couldn't charge from 0 to anything ( had to use a spare battery from my dads old iPhone 5 install my battery charge it enough to boot up then after transferring batt. back to my phone it would work and keep charging just as long as I didn't let it completely die to the black screen with battery showing... it was strange and a pain I felt tethered to a charger at all times!!... they replaced after explaining my situation and the other was the 6s recalled for being a first production 6s with the so called bad battery (I never had problems) but a new battery for free and no update because a nice friendly apple genius was too good to pass up... told them before changing battery if it comes back on anything but iOS 9.0.2 I wouldn't accept it...then later updated it (6s 128gb) to 10.2 for my series 1 watch to pair... jb came out less than a week later HAHA LUCKY I KNOW

Open source of android has it advantages but not nearly as stable and great as a jailbroken Iphone for me

In all reality I've been jailbroken so long using a stock iPhone is like working with windows 98 for me, I've been spoiled for too long and am used to controlling my devices my way, I waited until weeks ago to finally get iPhone 7 because of the crappy mach_portal jb until extra_recipe+yalux mach_portal exploit released for full substrate and blackboard support, then set out to find a new one in store unopened on 10.1.1 by looking at the 4th and 5th letters in the serial number took 17 att stores and 3 walmarts but I found what I set out for, I will also purchase the iPhone8/ Iphone edition when it is jailbroken in a stable manner keeping my tradition going strong, when jailbreaks stop being released is when I finally give up on iOS so I really hope that doesn't happen any time soon :( stupid bounty programs messing up sauriks dream of open source for all hardware and software on your own device... I get sick of walled gardens and being told what I can and can't have, also side loading is a joke of a attempt for running your own apps without read/write and terminal commands and filza at least a Iphone is simply a glorified text, safari and phone without any customizable options... I don't like playing in the sandbox if you can't tell

My main machines now are a couple of laptops...Thinkpad X20x machines, 8gb RAM. No hdmi unfortunately. Circa 2010-2011.

Recently added a NUC and getting my feet wet with Plex. (Desktops are old and not worth mentioning. :) )

Seems to be a palatable solution so far...if I had to do it again, I'd build a more powerful Plex server so I could leverage my NAS more effectively.

(Actually, even better would be to build a really big box and runs VMs all over. But it would be a neverending thing then. LOL)

If Kodi works for you, use it. I never really bothered and it seems its use cases are more limited, IMO.
