To those that carry your iPhones in your front jean pockets. Does anyone else have a permanent iPhone outline in that pocket?

My wife carries mine for me, in a basket... It puts the phone in the basket or it gets the hose.... :D

Actually carry it in the front left or rear right. Never had any dust issues or anything.

Front left pocket = iPhone
Front right pocket = Wallet
Back left pocket = Nothing (sometimes earbuds or bag of funny tobacco)
Back right pocket = Keys (unless wearing jacket or cargo shorts)

carry it in various pockets and coats

No scratches despite beating the crap out of it. No dust under the screen but plenty of dust in the headphone, dock and speaker hole

exactly the same as me! lol

Carried all 5 of my iPhones in my pocket, never had an issue. People baby these things, but they're built like tanks. Won't wear and tear from normal usage. I don't use cases either.

Good to hear people. I don't have any dust under mine either. I was just curious cause I have heard of a few people getting dust under their screen but like some of you have said it was a defect with the device. It's good to know that Apple would replace it.

My fiancé has had the 3GS for 17 months and has dust under the screen. I wonder if Apple would replace it? Not that it's a big deal but just curious?

They would for $149. If it was under warranty they'd replace it.

Front left pocket! If I wear jeans, I rock it without a case. If I'm wearing shorts I'll slip it in a case and go.

Also I have one tiny speck of dust under my screen.. it's weird haha but I'm not too bothered by it.

Same pocket for me, same speck of dust, too. Mine is definitely from manufacturing though. I only see it if I look for it, so I don't really care.

I carry mine in a holster on my hip; there's something about it being in the pocket that seems metrosexual to me!?

With that said I know I'm in the growing minority, however, I'm fairly certain I'll NEVER be a pocket phone carrier.

No offense to anyone intended.

How many if any at all have gotten dust under the screen of their iPhone 4/4S from carrying it in your pocket? It seems like I'm always checking my iPhone 4 for dust.

I know that the display and screen is fused together but has anyone ever had any problem with this?

TO OP:
Have you gotten dust in yours from keeping it in your pocket?

I had one problem.
Usually I keep all my IPhones (3G and 4Gs) in the small front pocket of my jeans. It fits perfectly.
One week ago I bought new stonewashed jeans and ......
By the end of the day I suddenly noticed a lot of scratches on my Iphone (top back side - close to camera). There were a lot of small almost unvisible sand in this pocket. Luckely my camera was not damaged. I washed my jeans twice (first by hand) and removed all sand.
Now I use ICorbons cover.

Watch your new jeans. ;)

My iPhone is placed in my pocket every single day. I've had it for over 6 months, and the only dust I get on it is under my Incipio feather case, which I clean weekly. Other than that, I have not encountered any dust whatsoever underneather the screen.

I feel the only people who use need to use holsters are those in construction or something related or if you have some disability issue that you can't put it in your pocket. It's not 1998-- no more holsters and StarTACs!

Unless your phone is defective you won't get dust.

I have an iPhone 4 original from launch day always in a pocket or bag, zero dust.

Same here.

It is physically impossible to get dust under the screen of an iPhone 4/4S, assuming the screen is still original. If you've had it replaced with a non-original screen, anything is possible. The screen and the glass covering it are glued together; there is no way for anything to get in there.

Am I the only one curious how dust is getting that bad in the OP's pockets that it is getting into their iPhone?
